Hi there! Just a quick heads up, I’m using this very first post to talk about Joy and the next post to talk about Light in an effort to get us all on a similar page here at the beginning. So let’s open our hearts and minds and jump right in, shall we?

An Invitation To Joy

Have you ever given any thought to what brings you Joy? I spent most of my life with no real awareness of Joy, at least no awareness of Joy as I understand it today.

Sometimes I think we are conditioned away from Joy as we grow up and are steered by outside forces (such as society and family for example) toward work and duty and roles to be played and pasts to be held on to. It seems Joy is asked to take a back seat without anyone really noticing.

Most folks think Joy is an emotion similar to happiness, I did too, and this is what the dictionary confirms, but I’ve come to believe Joy is a state of being as opposed to an emotion. Its not here or gone based on current circumstances like happiness or sadness might be. I feel it’s richer than that. Its got heft and can run deep to our core if we let it.

As I continue to explore Joy, I find there is so much breadth and depth to it. It seems to have so much to offer. For me, I find there is an awful lot of Peace in Joy. There is Harmony in Joy. There is Abundance, Love, and Fulfillment in Joy. There is Clarity, Well-Being, and Inspiration in Joy. There is Happiness in Joy, and of course, there is Joy in Joy. There are so many delicious things in Joy and I believe we all have the ability to choose it for ourselves in the tiniest, subtlest of ways and in the big, in your face ways that shine like beacons for all to see. Its just there, always available, waiting to be chosen.

In, The Book Of Joy, the Dalai Lama and the Archbishop Emeritus Desmond TuTu offer us their own invitation to Joy when they say, “No dark fate determines our future. We do. Each day and each moment, we are able to create and re-create our lives and the very quality of human life on our planet.”

I have come to agree with them wholeheartedly and A Joy Full Path is an invitation of my own to choose Joy in life to the best of my ability.  I make no promises about how it might look like from day to day, only that I invite myself to choose it to the best of my ability in every given moment.

Its different for everyone, but for me at this moment, Joy looks like a whole lot of Travel.  I currently also find Joy in Adventure, Exploration, Being in Nature, Hiking with my dog, Watching my Chickens, Laughter, Quality time in Solitude, Quality time in Community, Intentional Personal and Spiritual Growth, Deepening my Connection to Source (Consciousness, The Universe, The Creator, God, Goddess, The Divine, Yahweh, Allah, or whatever you like to call it) and Discovering more ways to Express and Receive Love in all its forms.  In addition, I also invite myself to find Joy in the more mundane for example, doing laundry, cleaning house, running errands, paying bills, etc.  It’s all fodder for Joy.

I’d very much like to hear what brings you Joy and how you are creating it or hope to create it in your Life.

You now know a little bit more about  A Joy Full Path.  It will hopefully be a place to share stories of Travel and Adventure and Life and Growth as I (and We) continue to create and re-create a Life that is as full of Joy and Light as I (and We) can make it.

Thank you for being here with me.  I’d really like to hear your thoughts, questions, or shares   so invite you to reach out in the comment section below or more privately, via the Get In Touch Page above. Let’s get the conversation going.

Until next time, many blessings.

Hi Margie!! Thank you starting this uplifting blog! I agree with your definition of Joy as a state of being rather than an emotion. One of the ways I experience joy Is from receiving confirmation from the universe that we all connected and we’re all where we’re supposed to be! The perfect example was receiving that emailed picture from you yesterday of our “adventure” on the Gilmore Trail, at exactly the moment I had driven past the road to the trail on my weekend trip to Fairbanks! And I hadn’t been to Fairbanks since our adventure together years ago! I just love it!!
